Little's Girls Tea Party

So I am scheduled to do a tea party for a 5 year old this weekend. I am still unsure of what I am doing for the party, in terms of tablescape that is. I am trying to use the little glass snack tray's from the 50's. If they get broken they are easily replaced and the glass cups are smaller and less fragile then a china teacup.
So as you can see they are pretty boring on white. So I tried pink.I kind of like this but the favor box dies on the particular color pink. So I tried a purple table cloth.

Now originally I had an idea for this table. The actual table my table scape will be on is very large table (108" x 40"). I only have one tablecloth that will fit this table. It is the off-white cloth under the colored one's in the picture. I also was influenced by the customer who stated there would be a lot of pink. I felt that I really needed to go with pink as the plates have no color.

I normally make square table toppers to go over a solid color tablecloth. This eliminates the need for me to have tons of tablecloths in different sizes and colors. The solid tablecloths I have are basically white and pink in an array of sizes. Like I said for this particular table I only have one table cloth and it was off white. Since the table is so large, I first came up with the idea of making runners about 12-14 inches wide. They would run from side to side down the table at each place setting. Then I would make one for each end that was really just a tail that tucked under the last side to side runner.

So I have been to the fabric store twice. Once with out my plate and favor and once with. I am always amazed at how different a color can be. The pink favor box that I thought was so perfect, is very peachy pink. Of course there was no fabric in a pink that complimented this color well.

I looked to other colors and lots of patterns but nothing was working. Finally I just decided to focus on what looked best with the glass. Even though it is just a glass plate, it takes just the right color and/or pattern to make the glass pop! I found a pink with little white polka dots that I really liked. But of course it wasn't my favorite with with the favor box.
Okay so that photo doesn't show the favor box with the pink, but it doesn't go. So as I continued to look and think (with 2 little boys trying to climb the fabric racks and hide in the shelves) I found a darling fabric I loved! Alas it was blue, but it has subtle white polka dots in the background and cupcakes scatter all over it. How fun! I think the favor box goes really well with this fabric. So I decided to ditch my original plan and make 3 table toppers 2 pink and 1 blue. As you can see from below, this worked out rather nicely.Of course the table looked much better once it was all set.
